Why Do I Coach?

I coach because I know how tough the sport of wrestling is and I believe that wrestling gave me a lot of the character that I have today. Wrestling teaches you to work hard even when you may not get recognized. Character is who you are when nobody is watching. Wrestling teaches you about yourself and your limits. Wrestling teaches you how much you can take physically, emotionally and mentally. Wrestling requires more than you think you can give, over adn over and over. I coach because I believe that the sport of wrestling teaches boys what it takes to become men.

Why Do I Coach?

Wrestling is a big part of my life. I started to coach because of the respect I had for my coaches Don Kilgas, Dick Bentley, and Steve McDaniels. They took time to help me grow not only as a wrestler, but also as a person. I owe a lot to these three men. I coach in hopes of being able to help other young men develop the love of wrestling and the character that is needed to be successful in life.

Todd Verboomen, 4th & 5th Grade Head Coach

Coaching Experience:

I started coaching when I was a freshman in high school (19 years), helping out the recreation program. When the LC Wrestling Club took over the program, I became the first coach. After a number of years with the club's program, I accepted the Middle School coaching position. After two years I decided that my time was needed at home with my newly born child. I returned to coaching two years ago at the 2nd & 3rd Grade level and currently coach the 4th & 5th Grade wrestlers.

Why Do I Coach?

There is more to wrestling than pins and wins. This sport builds courage, discipline, a "can do" attitude and helps develop strong character which helps prepare young wrestlers for the challenges of life. I enjoy influencing young wrestlers positively. I get great satisfaction watching wrestlers become more confident, more outgoing and watching them come together as a team to become a class act.

Why Do I Coach?

For the kids and the sport. I want to help promote wrestling as much as possible. It is the best sport out there that teaches kids life-long lessons. Making an impact on a kid's life in a positive way is the best way that I can give back.
